David Pupo - Lead Instructor

David is our head instructor at Ivy League Jiu-Jitsu. He began training in the Cuban Olympic style of Judo at age 4 under his father, who is a judo black belt with over 30 years of experience. In 2013, he began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to improve his ground work. He adapted quickly and found success in many high level tournaments. After 9 years of hard training, he received his black belt from coach Javill Byron in 2022. In addition to being a fierce competitor, David is an excellent instructor with more than 8 years of experience teaching students from ages 6-60. He has excellent attention to detail and takes the time to make sure each student gets the personal attention he or she needs to absorb the core points of each lesson.
