Our Promise To You
Our business is founded on the tenets of respect for our students and care for our community. We promise to offer all of the following to each person who walks through our doors:
-
This is a judgment free zone. We believe that martial arts are for everyone, and we will never view anybody as unworthy or unimportant. As long as you are willing to show kindness and respect to others, it is our privilege to teach you.
-
Skin infections are common in many martial arts gyms where hygiene is not a priority. We are meticulous about cleanliness, and our mats are thoroughly scrubbed a minimum of two times per day.
-
Our coaches have more than 30 years of combined experience on the mat and are passionate about martial arts. We take pride in our work and strive to help each student maximize their potential. All employees are vetted via criminal background checks.
-
No matter your age or experience level, we have a class that’s right for you. From beginners to seasoned competitors, ages 8 to 108, we are excited to help you meet your goals!
-
Many people who are interested in Jiu-Jitsu are hesitant to start due to concerns about injuries. While you can never remove 100% of risk from any contact sport, the vast majority of serious injuries can be avoided by observing basic safety practices which are unfortunately ignored at most martial arts schools. Our Injury Prevention Protocol is designed to maximize your progress while keeping you healthy.
-

Benefits Of Practicing Martial Arts:
-
While many people start martial arts training for self defense, the average American is at far greater risk of adverse effects of sedentary lifestyle and poor diet than from a physical attack. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US, and statistics show that 41% of American adults can be classified as obese, with nearly 1 in 10 having Type 2 Diabetes. Childhood obesity rates are at a record high of 18%. Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best martial arts for weight loss, with an average of 700-1000 calories burned per class. Studies show that even moderate exercise 3 days per week is associated with a substantial decrease in risk of cardiac death. We believe that Jiu-Jitsu is more than a fun hobby; it’s an investment in your future!
-
This one is obvious. We do not encourage our students to seek out trouble, however, in rare occasions even average people are placed in situations of unavoidable conflict. This is even more likely in the case of people working in security or emergency services. There is a tremendous amount of relief and confidence that comes from knowing that you will be prepared if trouble finds you.
-
33% of American adults report feeling extreme stress on a frequent basis. This can have siginficant effects both physical and mental health. There is evidence that endorphin release from vigorous exercise can significantly improve symptoms of chronic stress exposure.
-
Recent studies have shown that between 36 and 60% of adults report feeling chronically lonely. Social contact is an import part of the human experience, but many people report feeling more isolated despite frequent superficial connection with others over social media. Jiu-Jitsu and Judo training provides an opportunity to socialize with other people from all walks of life in a healthy and productive environment.
-
This is an extention of self defense. Bullying is a major public health problem among children and increases risk of poor health, social, and educational outcomes both in childhood and adulthood. While the solution to this is complicated, the reality is that most bullies are looking for an easy target. Evidence shows that the confidence gained from proficiency in a martial art makes children less likely to be targeted and more likely to stand up for those who are.
-
This is probably the most important one- because it’s fun! There is a sense of satisfaction that comes from accomplishing difficult things. Jiu-Jitsu is not easy, but that’s what makes it great. It’s mentally stimulating and there’s always a new problem to solve.
